Yes. His favorite writer is Agatha Christie, the Queen of Crime, and he once made a special visit to the grave of Edgar Allen Poe, where he talked with a raven. And he wrote a series of forensic books on blood, poison, firearms, handwriting evidence, and one of the first books for young readers on computer crime.
Has he won any awards?
His nonfiction has won the AEP Distinguished Achievement Award three times. Not once, or twice, but three times! His Finnegan Zwake books were shortlisted for the Edgar and the Anthony Mystery Awards twice.

He speaks at schools, libraries, and conferences across the country on graphic novels, mysteries, and books for boys, and has been a featured speaker at ALA, AASL, NYAEC, TLA, NOLA, EncycloMedia and IRA.
And where does he live?
In Minneapolis, Minnesota. In a haunted house.
That’s what the previous owners told him. The house is haunted by a woman named Helen who currently resides in the basement, in the former coal room.
Dahl has even seen the shadow of a person walk down the upstairs hallway and into a bedroom. While he was alone in the house! And it was not his first encounter with a ghost.
